In my recent E.L.F. haul I bought some of the Mineral Eyeshadows (well they had a promotion going on). When I first got them I had no clue how to wear them or what to do with them but I did know that I could really do anything with them. So here are some swatches to give you an idea of what the colors really look like (elf is notorious for having poor color swatches, but it is hard to get an accurate color representation), and a few tips on how to use them :). Enjoy! Each shadow retails for $3, normally with no sale or discount.

Innocent : a pale matte off white color. A nice color for under your brow highlight. With primer is doesn’t lose any sparkle, because is has none to begin with. With the Makeup Lock and Seal it comes off looking like white-out liquid. A little too much.
Sweet : a lovely pale pink shimmer color. Very dainty and feminine color. I would say there is a shimmer to it but not a glitter. I define glitter as lots of random colored sparkles. This has sparkle, but all in the same color family. With the Makeup Lock and Seal the color intensifies and is a nice color for different looks or something more than you’re everyday routine.
Golden : So when I say Sweet has a shimmer, Golden has a glitter. Lots of different sparkles in this shadow make it pretty but I just refer to it as glitter. It’s still a powdery consistency so it’s not straight glitter, but very sparkly. With the Makeup Lock and Seal the color becomes amazing. The foiled look could do so many different things I can’t wait to try it out some more.
Dreamy : A lovely teal-blue color. Way more blue than green. When you use with the Makeup Lock and Seal then the silver comes out quite a bit more. A lovely shade, if you’re looking for a lighter blue.
Socialite : Not a silver, not a grey. I’d say a gunmetal color. I love the duo chrome effect the seal gives. I’m dreaming away already :).
I will say that for all of these colors once I applied them over the $1 primer they lost their sparkle and shimmer. They almost all became this dull matte color. If you use no base then the shimmer/glitter doesn’t stay for long so if you want to create a nice impact with these colors, perhaps a white base would be nice and give the Makeup Lock and Seal a try out.
This is the Makeup Lock and Seal. The way I use it is the place some of the loose shadow in a small container, then add 2-3 drops of sealer and mix. Then use to your hearts content :).
